The Iwo Jima Memorial Historical Foundation, Inc. is holding a ceremony to Remember those who Fought & Died in the Battle of Iwo Jima. Here are the details:
Event: 80th Anniversary Ceremony of Iwo Jima Flag Raising
Date: Sat. Feb. 22, 2025 (snow date Feb 23)
Time: 10:30am - Please arrive early
Place: Central Connecticut State Univ. - Davidson Hall, Torp Theater (indoors)
Parking: CCSU Welte Garage on Ella Grasso Blvd, New Britain (see attached CCSU campus map - #40 is Welte Garage)
NOTE: for those who have difficulty walking, there will be electric cart shuttles at Welte Garage to drive you to Torp Theater
Speakers: CT VA Commissioner Ron Welch & Brig. Gen. Omar J. Randall from Marine Corps HQ
Special Guests: Iwo Jima Survivors & WWII Veterans
After the ceremony: You are welcome to join us at the Iwo Jima Memorial at 1 Iwo Jima Way, New Britain CT.
Luncheon: At 1pm, We will bring our Guest Speakers to lunch at Portofino's Restaurant, 246 New Britain Rd, Berlin CT.
We have limited seating, but if you would like to join us, the buffet is $25.00 per person. Please let me know ASAP.
