Discount Programs & Opprtunities

Below is a list of programs and services that offer Military discounts.  Many take 10% off products on average, but we've seen them go as high as 60% off. While some retailers offer reliable, consistent discounts no matter where you shop, this isn't always the case. With some retailers, discounts can vary depending on location and the day/time of year.

Operation Fuel

The logo for operation fuel power for good

Operation Fuel was founded in 1977 after a worldwide oil embargo caused an unprecedented escalation in the price of home heating. Although federal and state governments had developed energy assistance programs for families experiencing poverty, low-income working families who were not eligible for government help and in crisis were left out in the cold.

To address the crisis in Connecticut, a collaboration among religious communities, industry leaders in banking, insurance, and utilities, Father Thomas Lynch, and Governor Ella Grasso created Operation Fuel, intended to provide relief for residents who fell through the gaps of government assistance programs.

Lowe’s Veteran Discount

Lowe’s Military Discount program is available to active-duty military members and Veterans of all branches in addition to their spouses. Those in the NOAA and USPHS are also eligible. As long as you haven’t been dishonorably discharged, you’re good to go! Currently, they provide a 10% discount on eligible items, which applies to the majority of full-price products. If you’re looking to apply the discount to already discounted items, you’ll be out of luck. Anything on markdown, discount, or that you’ve applied a coupon to will be excluded from the military discount. You can verify your Veteran status online through the Lowe’s military validation portal.

Apple Veteran Discount

Similarly to Lowe’s offerings, you’ll get a 10% discount on Apple products if you’re a current military member or Veteran. Not only that, but ALL immediate family members who live in the same house are also eligible for this discount. There are small exclusions. You cannot use your discount on Apple Card Monthly Installments, and they state that only SIM-free iPhones are eligible for any special pricing. To verify your Veteran status with Apple, you can use their ID.me portal.

Home Depot Veteran Discount

Home Depot offers 10% off of regularly priced items in-store. The maximum purchase amount you can use it on is $500, so you’ll be saving $50 at most. (Every dollar counts, right?) As far as we’ve seen, spouses and immediate family members are not extended the same discount. You won’t find an official statement for their military discount on their website because it is not a company-wide policy. Only participating stores will offer the discount, and you cannot receive the discount for online products. If you’re looking to shop using a military discount at Home Depot, you may want to call ahead and make sure that your local store is participating in the military discount program. Of course, you’ll also need to present a valid military ID to receive these Veteran discounts, where allowed.

Costco Veteran Discount

Costco doesn’t offer quite as much as other stores. They don’t provide discounted memberships, but they will give new military members who join Costco a $20 Costco Shop Card. With $20, you could buy a couple packs of burgers to grill out with, at least. If you want a free $20 card to shop at Costco, you can click this link, scroll down to the “Military” section under New Member Promotions, and verify your Veteran status.

Dell Veteran Discount

Dell offers Veteran discounts for 10% off of electronics and PCs. The main exclusions are gaming laptops and accessories (specifically Alienware). Your family is also eligible to use these rewards. It’s incredibly easy to get them, too. All you need to do is visit Dell’s military offer portal and use your .Mil email address to get a Veteran coupon sent straight to your email.

Joann Military Discount

One of the most impressive, and shocking, discounts of the bunch is that offered by Joann (you know, the craft and fabric store). You can save 15% with Joann Military Rewards on every purchase if you’re a Vet or you’ve been honorably discharged from the military. Your spouse and children can also use these rewards, and you don’t even have to be present. You can sign up by creating an account through the Joann app, navigating to Discount Programs, and selecting “Military” from there. Or, you can enroll online here.

The North Face

If you want expensive gear and outerwear at a slightly less expensive price, The North Face offers an agreeable military discount for you. You’ll get 10% off of your purchase, which you can use every 30 days. Both outlet stores and full-price locations will accept your military discount. Your spouse and dependents are all eligible to use this discount, too. You’ll need to verify that you’re a Veteran to receive these Veteran discounts. The North Face uses SheerID.com to verify your Veteran status, and you’ll have to re-verify after each use of your discount if you plan on using it again.

Bass Pro Shops

The heavens have opened up and allowed you to have a year-round military discount on thousands of Bass Pro Shops goods. You’ll get 5% off on nearly everything in-store, including items that are on sale or currently on promotion. As of recently, the 5% off is available on firearms and ammo, too. No one Vet can have enough ammo stocked up. It’s like how women infinitely stockpile Bath and Body Works candles. To verify that you’re eligible, you’ll need to create an account on the Bass Pro Shops website

Sirius XM

Sirius XM is one of the foremost music streaming services out there. Since Spotify doesn’t offer a military discount, we’ve chosen to completely ignore their existence. You can save 25% off eligible plans with Sirius XM by using a credit card. If you want to take advantage of this discount, you need to create an account on their website

You can verify that you’re a Veteran by entering your account information and .Mil email address here.

Spectrum Veteran Discount

Spectrum calls their military discount a “Military Benefit” because they don’t exactly offer a discount; they offer a benefit from the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act. Through Spectrum, you can reserve your phone number for three years if you decide to cancel your Spectrum service. To do so, you’ll have to make an account and fill out the request form, providing any verifying documents they ask for.

Verizon Fios Veteran Discount

Just like they offer discounts on cell service, Verizon provides discounts for their streaming service, Verizon Fios. As a new Veteran customer, you can get $5 off per month on the 200 Mbps plan, $10 off per month on the 400 Mbps plan, and $15 off per month on the Gigabit Connection plan.
