SAlute to smiles
Salute to Smiles - Connecticut Veterans Oral Health Care Program
Connecticut is home to over 150,000 Veterans, with more than 36,000 residing in Greater Hartford. Many Veterans, once out of active duty, are no longer eligible for dental insurance through the Veterans Administration. Some may have private insurance, but lower-income Veterans often do not qualify for Medicaid and cannot afford private plans due to pension-related income limits.
This program aims to address these gaps by providing access to preventive and restorative dental care, as well as oral health education and resource navigation for Veterans in need.
Through this program, Connecticut Veterans in need may receive the following services:
- Dental checkups, cleaning and prevention
- Fillings
- Extractions
- Treatment for gum and periodontal disease
(Services not covered include dental implants, orthodontics, fixed bridges, telehealth)

PsychArmor®
PsychArmor® is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that offers critical resources to Americans so they can effectively engage with and support military service members, Veterans, and their families.
Because fewer than 7% of Americans serve or have served in uniform, most civilians are unfamiliar with military culture. As a result, members of the military and Veteran community often feel misunderstood and reluctant to seek support. Our mission is to bridge that civilian-military gap by educating a nation.
At PsychArmor, we provide online training videos delivered by national subject matter experts who are fiercely committed to educating the civilian community about military culture – at no cost to the learner. Additionally, our Support Center provides follow-up coaching to reinforce the knowledge conveyed in our courses.

rocking recovery
Veterans often experience things while serving that anyone outside of the armed forces community could never imagine. Veteran-specific supporters are familiar with military culture, language, and traditions. They also have government resources available through the Veterans Administration. Like the Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, the VA also has some difficulty when it comes to navigating its resources. We hope you find these links useful and informative. Thank you for your service and the sacrifices you made for our country.
